My best friend Erin from home finally came to visit me at UMass this weekend. I was so happy to have her smiling face here because she is one of those people who I just never have a bad time with. On Saturday, I knew I wanted for her to see the town of Northampton because it’s so adorable and right up her alley. It was supposed to rain all day but it was like the weather knew we had a day planned and decided to stay nice and sunny (except for one rain shower that we hit).
We went into this store called Cedar Chest and I was absolutely in love with it. This store was one of those places I could have been in for hours. Sadly, the picture above was the only picture I got as I was just so busy exploring. The picture is these really cool sacks that you can grow flowers or food in! They had different herbs, flowers, cucumbers, peppers, lettuce, tomatoes and some other things. It was so cool and I wanted to remember the company name so I could look them up. What a cool, thoughtful and different gift to give someone! If you are as interested as I obviously was, head over to their website http://www.urban-agriculture.net
The rest of the store had home decor, books, furniture… everything! I cannot wait to go back.
After shopping around for a bit we decided to go to this wine bar we had passed by earlier because it sounded like our kind of place. (shout out to me having to take every picture because of my “selfie stick arm”)
I tried a French chardonnay that was more on the buttery side than the oaky side and it was very good, although my friends didn’t really agree. I just like chardonnay. Amber and Kelsey both got a Sauvignon Blanc that our waitress suggested and Erin got a Riesling. Riesling is usually way too sweet for my taste but I actually enjoyed it. I really wasn’t all that hungry so Amber and I got two things and split them. We got a cheddar plate that came with some bread, grapes and pecans and it was decent, just not given a whole lot so we were a bit disappointed but then we also got French mussels with homemade brioche and man was it good. The mussels were in a white wine sauce and it was so yummy so we ended up dipping our bread in it at the end. And then because I’m a never ending pit, I had a slice of Kelsey’s flatbread that had tomato, pesto and ricotta and it was divine.
And then I found bae in Newbury Comics….
It’s days like yesterday that make me so thankful to have the friends and life I have. All smiles over here.
Hope you’re having a lovely Sunday evening!
Until next time,
