USA Volleyball Internship day 1!

Posted on Posted in Lifestyle
Yesterday was my first day as an Intern!

As almost anyone feels before going into a new job, I was quite nervous and wasn’t 100% sure what I was getting myself into. It also freaked me out a little knowing that if I didn’t like my job, I’m kind of stuck with it for the rest of the summer since plane tickets are definitely not pocket change!

The offices:
The USA Volleyball offices are in a building with other NGB’s (National Governing Bodies) including USA Table Tennis, USA fencing and one more that I cannot seem to remember.
I think it goes without saying that USA Volleyball is by far the biggest NGB of the 4.
When you walk into the USAV part of the offices, it is spectacular.
I honestly wasn’t expecting it to be that great because it’s just offices, but I was glad to be proven wrong. From the glass cases filled with volleyball history to glass meeting rooms to pictures of volleyball everywhere you go… it is pretty much a business student and volleyball players heaven.
I also get my own cubical like I said before and I am strangely excited about it.

The People:
Okay, so this wasn’t my first time meeting a bunch of the people.
For those of you who don’t know, I am actually renting a room in one of the bosses condo and the day I arrived in Colorado, she had a “pool” party (it was raining so no pool) and so that allowed me to meet a couple people before hand. Everyone I have met thus far has been super welcoming.
There is another High Performance Intern as well and she was superrrr nice and helpful which makes me really excited to work with her more throughout the summer.

The actual job:
Since I am an intern, I knew coming in that I would be doing intern work. So I was not surprised when we went to the factory down the street and compiled bags of gear for one of the teams. I also spend way too much time sorting sweatshirts. When I say I spent too much time, I don’t mean they gave me too much work, I was just being stupid and messed something up!
I did not have a log-in name or password today so that is why I did not do any computer and phone work but I know I will be in the future.

So, that is a little overview of my very first day!
I would love to keep talking about it but I have to go to bed and get my beauty sleep for my second day as an intern:)

Until next time,
